Sec. Briones delivered a Good News on Teachers' Salary Increase

The Department of Education holds a press conference to discuss the preparations for the upcoming opening of classes for the school year 2019-2020 and other updates from the DepEd at the New Executive Building (NEB) in Malacañang on May 22, 2019.

When asked about the salary increase of the teachers, "Ma'am (Sec. Briones), one last question po for teachers, kailan daw po talaga nila maaasahan yung salary increase?"

Secretary Briones answered, "Yung sa last tranche ng SSL naimplement na, ngayon nag agree ang Presidente sa proposal ng DBM na hindi lamang tingnan yung salary ng teachers kundi yung kabuuang salary structure ng ating pamahalaan and that is what DBM is doing."

This is practically a good sign towards the realization of the said increase. With the go signal from the President to study the salary structure of all the government employees and its budget implications, we can somehow be eased that they are doing their job to deliver their promises, especially to the teachers.
