Senate Bill No. 19, to raise teachers' pay from P20,754 to P30,000

“We should provide teachers with the right incentives to encourage them to remain in the noblest profession of educating and molding our youth to become productive citizens of this country,” - Senator Franklin Drilon in his explanatory note under Senate Bill 19.

This bill has been formally filed by Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon which aims to uplift the status of living of all public school teachers by upgrading their salary rate from P20, 754 to P30,000 for entry-level positions. The rate adjustment will also be applied to the next higher positions if this bill passed into law.

“If we truly care about our country and its people, it would serve us well to invest in them. Devoting resources for their benefit means investing in our future,” Sen. Drilon said.

"This proposed salary increase will invigorate our teachers as they help build the nation, one student, one classroom at a time," he added.

Other senators and congressmen have also filed bills with the same objective, which hopefully brings positive consensus to our government and be approved so our public school teachers will be properly compensated.
